Cumin is a plant from the Apiaceae family that is believed to have originated in the Middle East. Already used around 5000 years ago by the Egyptians for its medicinal properties (it stimulates the appetite and combats digestive problems), it is also the ideal spice for seasoning saucy dishes such as Indian curries and couscous.
Furthermore, it pairs perfectly with fish and meat, enhancing their aromas in stews. Unlike cumin seeds, it's best to use ground cumin towards the end of cooking.

Regarding health:
Cumin stimulates the appetite and combats digestive disorders; in particular, it reduces intestinal spasms and helps to lower fever.
